For those who are wanting to break into the modeling industry it can be very confusing!
Between figuring out who to shoot with...and what to wear,how to pose,& realizing that photographer expect you to pay for their services.Most don't give even a thought to the type of model they hope to be.
Most who enter into the modeling industry have 2 images in their head about model's.
Maxim/FHM or Calvin Klein/Versace
This is all good and fine.
These are the two types of model's that are most common.Which are Glamour and Fashion.
But the truth of the matter is there are many many other genre's of modeling out there.
I will list a few:
Fashion/Runway
Glamour
Fine Art
Body part (hand,feet)
Pin-up
Alternative
I'm sure there are a few more I just cant think of any at this moment in time.
Feel free to add in the comments below on genre types..
Anyway you need to do a bit of research to look into these different genre's.
To see which ones spark your interest most..
Also remember that you really cant know which you truly love unless you have shot them.
You also need to define how comfortable you are with nudity.
I can tell you that if you are willing to shoot nudes you will get more work.but the thing with nudes is you HAVE to be very picky!
Don't get naked just for anyone!
By knowing what sort of model you want to be it will help you to define your style and your portfolio.
This is important for getting the right kind of work.
Now dont get me wrong there are many model's who can shoot anything you set infront of them and pull it off. Not so for everyone.
Some genre's are more fun than other's.But their all important.
So look around sites like www.modelmayhem.com
and decide on the type of model YOU want to be!
Also dont be afraid to ask question's.
Because asking question's is the only way you will learn!
